Turtles Ahead Look Out

Today On my Way to one of the Schools I support. I was surprised to see in the road A Turtle. Now seeing Box Turtles in the road is not that uncommon in May or July. Unfortunately it is all too common to see the ever present Box Turtle Crushed on the road. But this wasn’t a Box Turtle. To be honest I didn’t know what kind of turtle it was. As normal I stopped and moved the turtle out of the road and take a few pictures. Continue reading

Today We Observe Martin Luther King Day.

Today We Observe Martin Luther King Day.

There was a time when I looked on Martin Luther King Day and said why? Why are we observing a day for a civil rights leader from 1960s? I’m 46 I was the product of the education system of the 1970s. My first year of school would have been 1973 that is, 10 years almost to the month from this speech. Good Ideas are slow to move through society. They percolate slowly down thru society. Much like water moving thru a slow sand filter. Once placed out into the collective mind of society it takes time for the ideal to confront, expose and change concepts that are instilled into our psyches built over years or decades. Why I Fear a Cyber War

Why I Fear a Cyber War

One of the few things I Truly Fear is a Cyber war. We have become to dependent on computers in everyday life. When was the last time you had cash in your pocket? It has become so common place for you and I to just swipe our cards for what we need. That card is connected to the bank and the bank is connected to the internet. What happens when a bad actor (IE) for lack of a better example the Korea, or China, finally gets fed up with the US government using them as scape goats every time someone hacks Sony or Target, and turns loose programmers, to work taking down our cyber grid. Happiness and Hope for the New Year Holidays

Well Friends the year is winding to an end. It is December 24th 2014 and it seems like yesterday that I was contemplating the passing of December 24th 2013. One of the greatest surprises in my adult life, is that time passes faster and faster every year. That old adage time marches on, or time waits for no man is so true. As Jack likes to say Tick Tock the clock marches on. Continue reading

Beauty Indefinable in its whole

Beauty

Beauty

beauty has an immeasurable quantity. Indefinable in its whole.

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, Margaret Wolfe Hungerford.

Benjamin Franklin wrote in Poor Richards almanac. “Beauty, like supreme dominion is but supported by opinion.”

David Hume’s Essays, Moral and Political, 1742, “Beauty in things exists merely in the mind which contemplates them.” Continue reading

Making Time

Time

Making Time

Time is something that we each only have so much of. It is a Standard by which we measure a productive day.  It’s a measurement of the movement of the sun across the sky. According to Albert Einstein it is the 4th dimension. It is required to know where something actually is located in space. You can know the elevation, latitude, longitude to travel, But if you don’t know how long to travel in that direction where are you going? Continue reading

Friends, this here is an easy recipe for anyone needin to feed a passel of kids some good food. It used to be cheap to, but it’s getting more expensive because of the price of beef. I guess you can do it with pork. I’ve never tried it. Continue reading

Tiny Homes For the Poor and Homeless

I’ve often though this was a good idea take unused lots and bring in building materials. maybe get habitat for humanity involved and let the people who need the tiny homes build them. Most cites will not let you build one as a residence, that is why they are built on trailer frames. But New Jersey is getting involved and lets hope this unusual liberty building move from N.J. is a step that other city’s will learn from.

“N.J. would encourage building tiny houses for the poor and homeless under bill Continue reading
